Filing a consumer complaint online, step by step
You've decided you're not letting it slide — a bad product, a service that failed, a company that stopped replying. The good news is you can take it to the consumer forum yourself, online, without a lawyer for a straightforward claim. It sounds daunting; the actual process is a form and some patience.
Before you start
Get these together:
- Proof of purchase — bill, invoice, order confirmation.
- A record of the problem — photos, the fault, screenshots of your complaints and their replies.
- What you're asking for — refund, replacement, compensation — and a rough amount.
The steps
- Complain to the seller first, in writing. The forum expects you to have given them a chance. Keep that message.
- Go to the official e-Daakhil portal — the government's online consumer-complaint system. Register with your email and phone.
- File the complaint — fill in your details, the other side's, what went wrong, and what you want. Upload your documents.
- Pay the small fee, submit, and note your complaint number.
- Follow the updates — you'll get hearing dates; you can often attend online.
What to expect
The forum you file in depends on the amount involved, and smaller claims are meant to be handled without a lawyer. It takes time, but the process is built for ordinary people to use directly.
